School Counselors help children through the Guidance Program. Classroom guidance is an important part of the counseling curriculum. The counselor will meet with classrooms for character education and lessons on courtesy, health, caring, goal setting, honesty, responsibility, conflict resolution, feelings, and esteem. Small Group Counseling is also an important part of the Guidance Program at East Ridge.

Some groups are designed to help students develop skills to deal with anger, grief, and separation and/or divorce. Other groups are organized to assist with self-esteem issues, friendship and social skills, problem-solving techniques, and other issues students encounter daily.
