DECA is a national career and technical student organization composed of more than 170,000 marketing education students who are interested in entrepreneurial, marketing and/or management careers. DECA provides the student members with educational and leadership opportunities through the partnership of the marketing education instructional programs and the business and industry community. DECA’s goal is to teach the following skill set to it's student members:
- Occupational competencies needed for careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship
- Leadership skills
- Social and business etiquette
- An understanding and appreciation of civic responsibility
- Ethical behavior in personal and business relationships
- An understanding of the role of the free enterprise system in the global economy
